Scottish Power Discounted Energy Oct 2009 spiteful gits!!

Like to know where the discount is cause a dont seem to be getting any all i seem to be getting is higher direct debits.

Origional payment to gas was £35.00 and to electric it was £55
Then i decided what the hell i should have duel fuel discount as well because they supply us for both, so this is where it goes nuts

Payment went from £90 in Oct to £125 in Nov (all because they back dated there price increase from the 1st of sept 08 an stuck it on my bill),
still with me here, well in January i decide to give them another accurate meter reading I got letter back to tell me not paying enough, here we have stuck another £13 on brings me to £138.00.

The straw that has finally broke the camels back is I recieved another bill and guess what it has increased again   to drum roll please £168.50, I am in credit all be it £3.38 but its still credit.

Wish i had never done this, it has no standing charge but has primary and secondary tarrifs for gas and electric and it is confusing as hell to try an read it.

Suppliers now try to balance the books each March/April. Your debits will be adjusted so that you're balance should be zero come spring. You are only £3 in credit but there are still cold months to come so your debit has been increased.

Come spring, a readjustment will be made to reflect your annual consumption. The debit amount should come down then. If they still want you to pay £170 come May, then you have problems.
  • Thank you for explaining that, can you maybe help me with one other thing,
who benefits from No Standing Charge is it me who is never in, or someone who is always in and constantly using there electric and gas. I never understand that.

Both high and low users benefit from no standing charge - it is the default that most users should take.

It is only low users who (usually) pay more if they are on a (daily) standing charge tariff.

Things are changing, though. nPower have reintroduced daily standing charges (quoted as annual charges) and do not offer a nsc version of that tariff so if you stay with them for a year then their tariff may be as cheap.
