Fitness First won't let me cancel

Options
Hi, joined fitness first, soon after my job role changed and I am now 90% of the time out of the country.... rang them and as I have 8 months left on my contract I need a letter from my company (not a prob) but they still want to charge me £150 to cancel... this can't be right surely! I couldn't predict my change in role and yet they still want to charge me to cancel??? is there anything I can do?

    Unfortunately when you commited yourself to the contract (12 month minimun) they, like you, could not predict your change in role.

    Contracts are put in place and it seems that they are willing to cancel your contract for a lower fee than making you see out your contract (£150 seems alot less than 8 months rate). So therefore you will not be entitled to anything more unless your contract stipulates it.
  • If you can't cancel due to a 12month contract, can you ask to see if you can transfer your membership to a family member who would want to go to the gym instead?
  • When enquiring to join FITNESS FIRST, they wanted £46 a month. I simply told them I had a friend paying only £20 a month, and also that the Virgin Active gym down the road had gave me a "1-off" offer of £26 a month if I signed by the end of the day. I also said that if he did it for £20 a month, my other half would join too.

    He agreed...I joined...my partner joined....and pay only £20 per month each!!!
    BARGAIN! Cheers FITNESS FIRST!:dance::dance:
