    I like chicken poached - quick, easy, moist, not much energy used and less fiddly than steaming. Also produces a bit of stock for veg soup.

    Call it boiled! Peeps tend to say poached in relation to fish or meat, don't know why.

    the poster amanda beat me to it Asda today i bought 3 chickens for 2 quid each

    frozen two of them got one out for sunday lunch which is big enough for 4 for us
    ( id say 2a and 2 c but my two practially eat like adults anyway LOL )

    and id say id still have enough for chick sandwiches for monday - school and work

    and the carcus to make a lovley stock

    wd to asda for a great barguin

    Bexxie, they're usually just under a fiver I think. I doubt they'll be free range, even for that price though.

    Asda have on their website at the moment, pork at £2 a kilo. Ideal for sandwiches during the week, if you like it. Pork and stuffing sandwiches......mmmmm.

    Back to the chicken thing, I'd buy a whole chicken too. Not that it would last long. DS1 (alias frostbite because he's never out of the fridge.....14, say no more) has magnetic fingers when it comes to a cooked chicken. Can strip one to bare bones in seconds, I'd wager.
