Anyone used US car hire ?

Hi everyone.

We are going to Orlando in April and have been told by someone to book a car from Dollar through US car hire.
We only want to use it to get us from Sanford airport to International drive, and the gold star service is only quoting us £30 including a full tank of fuel, and all insurance, and costs.
This is cheaper than a taxi, or other forms of transport.
However, are they reputable company to book through. ?
Is it possible to pay a deposit in cash when hiring the car, and I do not loke the idea of them taking a swipe of my credit card !

Many Thanks

  • Be very carefull with Dollar-just had a big problem with them regarding drop off charge.
Make sure of your terms & conditions before you book.

No. Their terms state that you must give them a credit card as security, and I suspect they are not inclined to waive their terms for a 1 day rental.

In theory you could run up bills of thousands of dollars.

Despite what US Car hire might say I think you might have difficulty in getting a car from Sanford for 1 day and dropping it off at I Drive for anything like the price they suggest.
  • Thanks for the advise. Now I am worried.
US car hire state there is no drop off charge if you drop off at the selected drop off point. Do you mean they will charge you anyway ?
They are quoting £28 to include all costs on gold package. Do you also think this will not be the final charge ?
Any further advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

  • We hired cars from ALAMO and couldnt fault them or the cars. Not cheap though as you need the insurance.
Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.

i couldn't believe , i looked , you seem right , maybe it is correct . don't see how you could run a profitable business doing it . i think i would want to e mail them and clarify exactly that we were both on the same wavelength about the FULL cost.
