My £1200 Sony lcd telly (which I bought a couple of years back) also has only 1 HDMI port. You do get HDMI switcher rather cheap these days so that's an option

Again, my sony telly is 1080i and supports 1366 x 768 pixels (WXGA).

Considering I paid £1200 for my telly, this seems like a bargain since the specs are almost the same

A couple of years is a long time in the audio-visual world. I'd guess that your one would cost considerably less than £1200 these days.

So basically if you plan on having an HD DVD player, Sky HD or similar or an HD games console (why else would you want an HD TV other than to have a full HD set up?) in the future then having only one HDMI socket is pointless IMO.

Obviously, with a 1920 x 1080 screen it is going to "support" 1366 x 768  However if this screen is 1366 x 768 then it's not going to support 1920 x 1080 as stated is it?

Having said all that, this would probably be a decent screen for a kitchen or something, just don't expect much out of it as your main TV.

I meant the max my tv supports is 1366x768 and it is a 1080i telly

My friend has a similar set from eBuyer (with an LG panel I think) and he uses it as his main set and it has really good picture quality.

If you go for an AV setup for decent sound using this as a display then one HDMI is fine, do the switching at the AMP.

As it happens we are very happy with out SD material through our HD set much better than SD set of the same size(if you could get one). The HD matereial is icing not essential.

    (replaced a 41" sony RP for a 42" pani)

There is a diffences to the signals it can be processed and what can be displayed.

Looks like this TV can process upto 1080i including progresive inputs they will then get scaled to the display.

At 32" a 768 display will be fine most people would not be able to tell the difference moving to a 1080 display anyway.
