We are going to spend a couple of days in York, where are good places to eat? Don't wan't any where too expensive, but good food and nice atmosphere and surroundings.
Thanks in advance

The Brown Dog; great lunch, great location, great wine by the glass, great ambience, great dinner, great dog chachkas. Also had unimaginative but tasty food served competently at Jack's Steakhouse and Dancing Bear . We always stop for homemade diner food and baked goods at the Noon Mark Diner in Keene Valley on the way home.0

Agree with Oscars. York has dozens of nice restaurants, but many (especially those on main tourist streets) are really expensive. Oscars is tucked away a little (but still in centre) and a nice choice, been on many work meals there.
VJ's Art Bar is also nice, but limited menu.0 -

I am sure there is a slug and lettuce in York. Do they take Tesco vouchers? If so could be a very cheap meal. Otherwise i remember there being quite a few to choose from and you can stroll thorugh the streets looking at menus in the day time whilst sampling the ales on offer.Love is all you need da da da da da..... and a little help from a forum every now and then.0
