  • HI,

I can only repeat that she needs help and fast. If I was in her shoes I would be straight down the CAB, I work there and people in similar situations are referred to housing specialists.

Well at least you have tried! You have passed on what information you can find and have tried your best for her - whether she will listen and act on that information is down to her! If she does - good for her! If she doesnt well thats something she will have to live with and regret

She's already in touch with them, which personally I thought was a very good thing.

I'm not sure what area you are in , but i do know some of the animal charities will board pets long term for a donation towards food and care , (usually if the owner is hospitilised ), try the cats action trust for the cats ..the dogs could be helped by local breed rescue groups.or local animal sanctuary (found these are a lot more sympathetic than the larger national ones.)

Update: The mortgage company have applied for the relevant paperwork to evict her. She seems to think that this process will take 28 days giving her another 4 weeks in the house...despite us saying that the warrant could already be granted and she could be out tomorrow.

However, she has put in an appeal on the grounds that she needs some more time to sell the house.

OH is still worried (who wouldn't be), but once again our hands are tied behind our backs. We can do nothing except provide her with info and hope that she listens.....which it seems she isn't doing at the moment.

Whatever happens they cant just throw her out on the street with nowhere at all to live especially as she has a child in tow. The main thing for her to do would be to stay in that house as long as she can. If theres any way she can stay in it after the 52 days are up she should do. After that she should seek help from a hostel for the homeless who will house her and the 15 year old. I know it sounds awful but in this instance it sounds like the only way ahead. The 17 year old I'm afraid will have to make his/her own housing arrangements as they wont automatically house them with the mother. Once in the hostel she can then apply for council housing or start saving for a deposit on a privately rented accomodation.

If the mortgage company are going to evict her then surely they will be the ones to sell the house - and as quickly and cheaply as they can?

She can still sell the house...in fact the judge told her early Jan to do so.
