  • I bought my 30gig video ipod about 3 months ago and am very pleased with it, having moved up from the ipod mini when its battery went kaput and stopped charging.

While I was pricing the new ipod before purchase, it seemed to me all retailers were selling it for £219, almost as though this is the minimum price Apple allows resellers to sell the unit for, though this could very well not be the case now. I did try eBay, but after figuring in delivery charges and the risk/wait of having the item delivered in the post, I decided the savings were negligible and ended up just buying from Dixons.

As for the rumours of yet another update to the ipod range, I'm not sure I would worry too much about that.... the current ipod was a new model when I bought mine so I can't see Apple alienating customers who just bought new ipods by releasing yet another new and improved version so quickly... could be wrong though

As other members have mentioned, 5th generation (i.e. the latest model) ipods are charged with a USB cable plugged directly into your computer. You can however buy this wall-adaptor to charge the ipod without a computer handy.

p.s.- I highly recommend you budget for a protective case for the ipod as well, as the ipod's glossy finish can scratch relatively easily against keys and change in your pocket. I have this one from Agent18.com, and am very happy with it.
