Budget airlines in Asia

Hi people

I'm going to Asia in about 3 weeks and interested in hearing from people who've used the budget airlines there (in particular Air Asia, Tiger etc).

I need to get from Singapore to Hanoi and the cheapest fare around that date is $200 Singapore dollars including tax which is fairly expensive from what I'm told. That particular fare is with Tiger.

Does anyone know how often Tiger has sales? Are they as frequent and random as Ryanair, for example?

I'm just deciding whether to book or hold off in case it becomes cheaper (I realise it's impossible to say and to book when you're happy with the fare.. just want to know if anyone has experienced sales patterns with Tiger or has any info).

Who else flys Singapore to Hanoi?

Becoming a moneysaving website, does anyone have transport suggestions for getting from Singapore to Hanoi to Hoi An to Ho Chi Ming to Singapore?

Thanks

  • Hi mate,

Its only Tiger that fly that route unfortunately. If you check http://www.whichbudget.com/en/cheapflights.php?from=SIN that will give you a list of all the budget airlines that fly a particular route.

    Hi
We have just come back from travelling round Vietnam and we used Vietnam Airlines. There have lots of outlets all over Vietnam so you will find them easy enough. It may be cheaper to pruchase your internal flights once you are in Vietnam, as you get alot of dong for your pound!
    Enjoy your trip

  • I think that from Singapore to Hanoi you are limited to Tiger, Singapore and Vietnam Airlines.

But back from Ho Chi Minh you have a few extra options including Jetstar Asia and two Indonesian airlines Garuda and Lion Air. Lion Air is currently doing the route for £0 + tax.

Make sure you leave at least 1 x night spare if connecting to international flights from a lo-co carrier in Asia.
