how do i tell if my bt phone socket works?

Hi i have been on virgin since i moved in my house but im now wanting to change to tiscali. i have a bt phone socket but im not sure if it works how can i tell and if it doesnt how much are they to get put in ? please help thankyou.

Plug a phone in to it and see if you get a dial tone. BT will be able to tell you the cost of reconnection.
For an ISP take a look at www.bethere.co.uk free for 6 month and free connection. on their normal 8mb package, Im on their 24mb unlimited its fantastic.0 -
tiscali? they throttle and have really low limits... woooah..
