Or even the bus? 4hours each way for $30-40 round trip.
Leave NY at 8, get there for 12 - leave DC at 6, back by 10!
MUCH more legroom and free WiFi to boot!
PLEASE stick to the question I ask.
What can i do in DC, not how to get there
i've pasted that from my previous response, as people can't read...
i'm 6'4 tall... legroom on a plane is bad enough, but on a coach for 4 hours is even worse... i can sit and listen to music for an hour, but 4 hours of having to sit on the internet, is like being bored at work...

Hi, I flew from ATL-DCA and the flew out of DUL-BUF in the Summer.
First off, definitely go from DCA- The metro is very easy, its at the airport and is about 25 minutes into central Washington DC.
One thing i noticed is how expensive it was to eat in Washington DC, mind i was on a strict budget! Generally ate in Subway or similar!!
Not wanting to be negative, but i am not sure if you have left enough time to see Washington DC- It is so spread out, is there not a flight at about 9,10pm you could get instead?
And who you flying with- JetBlue are superb!0 -
As a previous poster said, the Smithsonian Museums are there, and they are very good- the Air and Space museum in particualr...0

I was only winding you up Marky!
Here are the votes from the U.S. jury...............
Photos - suggest Mall, Capitol, Union St, Georgetown. Example of the Mall:

Lunch - plenty of suggestions in the Washingtonian list: http://www.washingtonian.com/packages/verybest2008/index.html - Circle Bistro and Weekend Bistro have both been good. Depends on how much they want to spend.
Afternoon beers - tend to go for drinks in Georgetown the most often. Chadwick's (32nd and Water St) is our usual haunt. Can't really say about anything downtown - all tend to be expensive, especially when you don't drink!

You should get the Amtrak train. We did a similar thing last year where we stayed in Washington DC but went to New York City for the day on the Amtrak train.0
