EDIT: I've got this printer http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1478717347.1235076296@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdhadegidfdeijcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=258243&category_oid=-24820 so I guess that will work without an adaptor?? (please say yes ;-) )
Yes, feed it the WPA security settings and it should be fine. That said troubleshooting wireless connections is a lot harder, and if it's nearby a USB lead is a lot easier.0 -
Not N speed you can't...
but as you yourself said, N isn't realy required, and 54Mbps is perfectly acceptable speed for pretty much anything at home

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Generally better as gjchester says to get a Netgear one to match your router. That way if there are connection probs one supplier cannot blame the other. Otherwise take a gamble and buy the cheapest. If you want to use full speed potential of the router then get an 'n'. If not a standard 'g' will do.
Better still, why not a bit of lateral thinking and get a fixed extension socket wired through into your conservatory now? You don't need BT to do it, any local telecoms engineer or electrician can do that for maybe £50-if only one wall to go through it's a simple job and then you can sit your router next to the PC and connect by ethernet.
Wireless has no benefits unless you need mobility (eg for a wireless laptop) or unless it's impossible to site the router near the PC.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Another alternative is the Powerline networking, but as the OP not has the router it's a bit of a moot point.0
