My ten year old girl understands the role of banks and what they do with your money. she understands that debt is evil and all debt should be avoided.
she understands about money being printed and hence being produced out of thin air but takes great pride in her savings and shows her passbook to everyone..she has
three thousand pounds that she has saved herself..
How does a ten year old amass £3,000?0 -
she saves when people give her money for birthdays xmas ect ect...if she gets £50 she will save £40 and be happy with that...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

OK...I am going to bet Geoffky £1 that when she hits 14, she will discover the delight of branded goods (andf the attached shopping experience...it's not about the product sometimes) and will deffo lose some of these savings in Abercrombie and Fitch, Jack Wills and Top Shop Oxford Circus. Then they discover make up and fake tan....leftovbers in Mums box and Rimmel just doesn't cut it.£3000 / 10 years x 2 (Xmas and Brithday) = £150 a time. Not bad going.
Then there's the 'going OUT' ...pricey hobby.
And so on......0 -
dont forget easter...only fatties get eggs.....dont forget bribes!!!! and holiday spend money off nan and grandad that she keeps and we end up paying....It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?

I KNOW.. the pressure on them is immense on the poor kids but she has said the savings are going to pay for her driving lessons and a car..:TIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?

Fair enough.
I'm not a parent, but if I had a ten year old I'd probably encourage them to save 20% or so then get them to spend the rest on toys and have a world of fun until it all gets serious at about 23.0 -
Hmm. So you're actually teaching her she doesn't need to spend her own money. Not sure what the official MSE ruling is on this one. Don't blame me if Martyn has a quiet word.dont forget easter...only fatties get eggs.....dont forget bribes!!!! and holiday spend money off nan and grandad that she keeps and we end up paying....0
