Short-term Car Insurance Query

Hi,
I require roughly 2 months of car insurance. I am expecting to get a company car in mid April. What is the best way to go about this? I have looked at some of the specialised short term insurers and was getting quoted £96 for 28 days which seems very steep as I am getting quoted £212 for a year. It is only a wee Skoda Fabia 1.2.
I am warey of signing up for a year as I have needed out of my contract with Swinton early previously and they charged me quite a few months worth of insurance to do so. Swinton said that this was because I was paying monthly. Is the best way to buy the years insurance outright so that when I need out I can call in and cancel as and when I like and get a full refund of the full amount that I do not use?
Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info.
New question.
Does anyone know of a car insurance company that does not charge a cancellation fee? I have had a wee look on Elephants site and they do. I would be very grateful if someone knew of a company that does not charge a fee so that I don't have to go through all of the car insurance frism T&Cs.0 -
