cautious balanced portfolio

Hi all
This is my first post. I took my pension from work 18 months ago,and have been putting £550 per month into an M.L.C. cautious balanced portfolio.
With the present economic climate i wonder if it is best to continue this investment ( i will not need to touch it for at least 5 years ) or go for something safer! I do realise that the stock market will eventually come back up but, will i lose too much in the meantime.
I eagerly await your very knowlegable replies.

Caustious is usually one of the lower risk catagories, but obviously these can be safer if you put it into cash. Not sure how you go about this or what.0

M.L.C. cautious balanced portfolio.
Thats a bit of a contradiction in terms. Cautious suggests low/medium risk. Balanced is medium risk. The fund title suggest both.

You need to find out where the fund is in the risk profile range before you make decisions like that. Whether it is cautious or balanced, it will only part be held in the markets. The amount will depend on the fund.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. This is a good question, but one that is impossible to address without knowing all about the investor in terms of :- age, income, expenditure, financial commitments, overall assets (liquid and otherwise), and attitude to risk. You should probably consult an IFA who should go into all this, and hopefully provide sound advice as to whether to stay with this investment or to do something different.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
