Just a warning if using Auriga crown and an Insurance4 car hire type of excess policy.
I have just got back from Girona, courtesy of Ryanairs £2 return offer. I hired a car through Holiday autos and it was with Auriga Crown, who now include clutch failure in with their wheels and glass cover.
I have a policy to cover the CDW excess, which also covers the wheels, tyres glass and underside damage but not "wear and tear" items, which I assume a clutch would come under. If you do not take out ACs glass tyre and clutch waiver they take a 300 Euro deposit at the start of the rental and I mean take not hold, money gone from my account already!
Given the many different drivers and driving styles that a rental car has, there must be a good chance of a clutch failing or wearing prematurely and as they have your 300 Euros it might prove difficult to recover this.
The car they gave me had 32,000 kms on the clock so a well used vehicle.
