I've just found this site and I'm interested in trying to get my bank charges and credit card charges refunded. I understand that the current court case means I'll have to wait before I tackle my bank but I want to go after the credit card companies now.
Will the CC company cancel my card and ask for immediate repayment of outstanding amounts? My credit rating is not great because of late payments and I'm paid on a commission basis therefore my monthly money can be great or crap depending on results. Because of this I can't afford to repay the full amount and I doubt I will be able to get another card (I don't want one anyway!).

  • Sorry, I can't help you on the credit card issue, but as for bank charges, you really need to get your first letter sent to them now. Once you've added your charges up from the statements they send, then you should submit your request.

They'll probably turn around and tell you they're waiting for the court case to go through before deciding on any payment, but you still need to get them in now, as any bank charges you've incurred will go back from the date of your first letter.

Plus, if you're in financial hardship, you can still claim them back NOW, of course, if you can give them proof of your hardship. Get your letter sent, add up your charges, and get your claim in. The earlier you do it the better.
