RBS Credit Charges Claim - Offer on the table!!

OK folks so I recently wrote to the RBS about 4 credit card charges. The total amount claimed was 2x £20.00 (pre 2006) and 2x £12.00 (post 2006). I slapped on the 8% interest to be cheeky.
The offer on the table is: £17.28 (basically 2x(20.00-12.00) + 8% interest). So they are complying with OFT report - I may not be able to get more from a Small Claims action.
Do I accept??
Bob
BTW my costs todate: 2nd class stamp, paper and envelope.

Entirely up to you. If you reject the offer, with the threat of issuing a claim at court, they may increase the offer or you may have to actually issue the claim before thay cave in.
OK but are you saying the bank are unlikely to try and contest my claim (even though I am asking for a full refund vs the offer of a reduction via refund to 4x £12.00 charges). Perhaps the low amount is below their radar??
I am still reading my book about the Small Claims Court (from the Community Action website). I need to send the LBA on the 25.02.2009 - so I'm trying to keep on schedule!!

With CC's, a refund of the £8 difference is pretty standard as a first offer. If you remain firm ie reject offer, send LBA (and if necessary file at court), they will almost certainly offer the full, amount0

OK thanks so I had better get on with my reading about Small Claims actions!! (Notice I didn't say "Small Claims Court" as there is no such thing - I'm learning!!)

Hi, I was in the same situation with Natwest. Had two charges of £18 that I was trying to claim back + interest = £53, they offered approx £12, stuck to my guns and told them we wanted the full amount, they then wrote back and said there was in fact only one charge, then they wrote back and said there were no charges!! I wrote them i very stern letter telling them how inept they were and pointed out that they had sent me two sets of statements showing the Two charges and in the end got the full amount i had intially claimed (including the 8% interest). So stick with it!!0
