Best no risk return

Hello,
My wife and I have around £50,000 which has recently been freed from a five year investment bond, we do not want to commit to another similar investment because I am in my sixties and simply want the best return with no risk. The interest can be paid yearly and we are willing to accept some constraints provided that there is no risk. At the moment the money is lying in our ordinary instant access building society account which is barely enough to protect it from inflation.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the best thing to do is to go to Moneysupermarket.com and check the best deals among notice and easy access savings accounts (sometimes easy access give more than notice). Also check Martin's articles on savings and what people say about particular accounts, e.g. ICICI.
