Im sure i heard on the radio that if you are 25 or over and earn less than £15k you can claim a benefit which works out to be worth £1000/year.
I cant seem to find any info on it now though.

I had a look at the tax website. Something i dont understand. There is a basic tax credit allowance of £1800 and a tax credit allowance of approx £700 for someone working over 30 hours a week.
Does that mean someone working 30+ hours a week can claim both the basic tax credit and the 30 hour week credit or just the 30 hour week credit?
Also, is the tax credit paid monthly? And does it matter if you only just started work within the past month?

For a single person to claim Working Tax Credits they must earn £12K per year as long as you work over 30 hours. For a couple the amount is approx £17.2K.
This is for people with no children.
