Does anyone know how many people die from DIY gas and electrical wiring work each year in the UK?
From 'that' woman's websiteIncorrectly fitted, badly repaired or poorly maintained gas appliances are a major cause of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. They can also lead to gas leaks and explosions. Tragically, on average 25 people a year die from CO poisoning, and many more suffer health problems from CO exposure directly related to gas. In addition, some 40 people a year are killed or injured in gas explosions. (Source: HSE Gas Safety Statistics)
However it doesn't give a breakdown of how these were caused.e.g.
Gas fires/gas cookers/ovens as opposed to CH boilers?
People bypassing the meter to get free gas.?
Faults that developed even though boiler/appliance was serviced.?
Suicide?
You can bet that the figures will be presented in a way that will scare people into the arms of the Tradesmen.0 -
And how many of those had the appliance fitted by a "Registered" tradesman?0
