See an IFA who will be able to take the medical details and see if an underwritten life assurance plan is suitable. If not, it may be that a life insurance plan is needed but that should not be top of the list.

dunstonh has told you to go for an "underwritten life assurance plan" rather than life insurance.

No offence intended but as you cannot even pick up on the words being different then you best bet would be to see an advisor rather than try to do it yourself.

life insurance indicates you are looking at a policy that has more clauses and is not guaranteed to pay out. Life assurance is the ideal product and should always be purchased as a preference wherever possible.

That said, there is some Americanism slipping into the UK and "insurance" rather than "assurance" is sometimes used incorrectly.
