Previously Declined?????

Hi,
I am trying to use some of the Car Insurance comparison sites recommended, but when the quotes screen comes up 90% of them say 'unable to quote due to Insurance being previously declined'.

I have had a car for 13 years, and have never made a claim nor had an accident in those 13 years, I have no idea at all as to why I would have been previously declined.

Is there a data company etc I could ring to find out what this 'black mark' is against my Insurance history. I really do not want to call my current insurer to ask, as my policy is up for renewal, and this may up my renewal quote, they are currently the cheapest due to the fact I cannot get a quote from elsewhere!!.

Are you answering the question the website asks you which will be something like "Have you ever had insurance refused or declined or ever had terms imposed by an Insurer" correctly? If you answering it wrong it will through the quotes out

I am answering 'no' to that question... because , as far as I am aware, I have not... I assume it is getting the info from a central database.

moneysupermarket.com (This provider will not quote as you have previously had car insurance declined)

Tesco Compare & Go compare all report Insurer declined to quote.

To save me going through the hassle of checking, delete your cookies (Do you know how to do this eg go into tools and delete them through there). Then go back into the site and run a quote through with a slightly different name on a different address but everything else the same.

Let me know if it quotes (You need to delete your cookies as otherwise their site will know its you).

If they are genuinly refusing cover as you have previously been declined insurance it is a serious matter as will affect you getting insurance big time. If you have not been declined then you need to get on to your insurer to find out whats happening and get them to take this off the register. (It sounds like they have made a mistake as if they had declined you they would not be offering renewal)

I have tried under different credentials and can get quotes, looks like something is on my record... I really don't want to call them though, as this will wack my premiums up if it's not them who put the marker on.
I need to know who / why this marker was put against me so I can go back to sensible insurance prices!!!
Is there any way of finding out, like you can see your credit score etc!.

There is a central record of people who have been declined eg You had insurance before and the company advised you they wanted to cancel the insurance or not offer renewal because say you had tried to defraud them or miss led them.

If you have never had this problem then ring your current Insurers and ask them what the problem is.

I assume you have never had a problem before with an Insurer (Them cancelling because you bounced your direct debits would not cause this)
