Help with airmiles - family emergency

Hi there I was wondering can anyone help me please? I am trying to get my son back to either Belfast or Dublin from the Netherlands (Amsterdam is fine) or he can go from Dusseldorf. He needs to fly on or around the 22nd feb and going back on the 1st march. I can get the way back cheaply but the way over is dear so I was trying to use airmiles but I can't seem to work it out on the site Is there any way I can do this - or does it need booked well in advance? The options just seem to be flying out from the uk not flying towards it.

Thanks for any advice.

    For a journey like that, Ryanair is likely to cost less than Airmiles. Look for flights using Eindhoven (Nederland) or Weeze (NRM) in Germany.

    I wouldn't use Airmiles for a trip such as this (although it should be possible - flying 'the other way round' - just give them a call).

    www.skyscanner.net has these prices under £100:
    21st FEBRUARY
    - Amsterdam to Exeter on Flybe for £82.68;
    - Dusseldorf to Stansted on Ryanair for £93.53.

    22nd FEBRUARY
    - Dusseldorf to:
    - Glasgow on Ryanair for £15.07;
    - Edinburgh on Ryanair for £34.37.

    23rd FEBRUARY:
    - Amsterdam to:
    - Luton on easyJet for £77.66;
    - Exeter on Flybe for £82.68;
    - London City on BA for £84.59;
    - Liverpool or Edinburgh on easyJet for £84.70;
    - Gatwick or Stansted on easyJet for £90.02;
    - Bristol on easyJet for £95.76.
    - Dusseldorf to:
    - Glasgow on Ryanair for £8.97
    - Manchester on Ryanair for £22.91
    - Edinburgh on Ryanair for £27.82
    - Stansted on Ryanair for £93.48
    - Birmingham on Ryanair for £94.37
    - Heathrow on BA for £99.22

    As you can see (and as common sense dictates) if you can wait until the Monday (23rd) you won't be paying premium for flying at the weekend, especially on a Sunday when weekend-breakers will be flying back to the UK.

    Another option you might like to consider is the Eurostar, with a change of trains in Paris or Brussels.
  • In addition to the above, Aer Lingus is 78EUR AMS-BFS on the 23rd. easyJet is currently 88EUR. If the 23rd is ok, Dusseldorf-Glasgow and Glasgow-Dublin (the last flight of the day will connect in time) will cost 55EUR if booked now.

    I don't think it would be worth trying airmiles for a last-minute journey such as this, unless you can't afford the normal tickets.
