Hiya
I bought my son pair jeans (£99) for xmas they came away at the seam i took them back and got exchange, anyways that pair did the same, so did the other pair, hes now on his 4th pair, the shop knows theres a fault so we had to wait a couple of weeks for new stock which apparently arnt faulty, surprise surprise he got pair from new stock wore them twice and they done the same.
Last week when he got his jeans i mentioned if this pair did the same would i get a refund got told they only do credit notes.
Im going back tomorrow or friday and want my money back this time, is the shop within their rights to only give me a credit note.
Can anyone give me some advice.
thanks
Ange

I'm petty sure you are entitled to a refund.
The best way to play it is to go in the shop 15 mins before closing and put your case in polite manner, it's amazing how they can change when they want to go home.
I once took back some faulty shoes on a Saturday morning, I convinced them that they needed to give me my money back by walking around the store showing the faulty shoes to potential customers.0 -
Thanks but i wouldnt have the nerve to do that.
I plan to be nice but i dont suppose that will get my money back.0 -
look up the Sale of Goods Act or SOGA on here by searching the forums (Top right of your screen)0

They are wrong. You are entitled to a refund on faulty goods. If they don't play ball, write to them asking for one, telling them you will have to take further action/advice if you don't get one.
I know that you have been told verbally that they only do credit notes, but you often see signs in shops to this effect. It's not just that signs that say "No refunds at all" have no meaning. It is actually illegal for them to display signs that purport to restrict your statutory rights. I reported a shop once for having a "No refunds" sign, and they got a visit from TS. I'm pretty sure they're also not allowed to make the statement verbally either, but I could be wrong.0 -

Well done. I'm sure they knew they were on to a loser.0
