Council Tax Banding

Can anyone tell me how this works when you move? Obviously the banding is from the 1990s. I am currently in Band A which is 800 odd pound a year. This is for houses less than 40,000 (my house is now worth 120,000) For my newbuild house I will be the first to live in it so I would imagine they would band it as the price it is worth so it would be in a Band G at 2,500 per year
Is this correct? Are they just re banding you as you move and the people buying ours would now be rebanded into an E say? whereas I left it on an A and the neighbours are all still on A. Or would they stay on an A. Which then makes me think am I fairly banded in my new house. Am I making sense?

search on google for "VOA postcode" and put in the postcode and you'll get the band.

It's not done like that - it's supposed to be the price it would have been in '91...
