I just got a leaflet from Scottish Power offering cheap or free cavity wall insulation. You don't need to be a customer as it says "perhaps you have a friend or relative who could benefit".
Price for a 2/3 bedroom semi/terraced GAS HEATED house are:
Offer: £125
Senior citizens: £99
Those on benefits: FREE
Price for a 2/3 bedroom semi/terraced ELECTRIC HEATED house are:
Offer: £50
Senior citizens: £50
Those on benefits: FREE
Call 0845 601 7836 and quote BISP
No T&C for the cavity wall insulation although there is a long list of the benefits which qualify (pretty much all of them).
There is another offer where if you buy 2 electric heaters from them the cavity wall insulation is free. If you are interested in that one call 0800 889900 and quote BISP to get the price of the heaters.

I live in a "detached" house on a new estate, but the houses are that close will I be able to get my free cavity wall insulation between my house and my neighbours???0
-
Although they don't list the prices for detached they sayDon't worry if your home is not shown in the table, the offer is available to most types of properties0

just called and spoke to a very helpfull person. She also mentioned that if you have a "virgin" loft with no insulation Scottish power will fit free loft insulation. If you have any existing insulation then they will charge the normal fee. She also mentioned that the max fee was £175 for Cavity Wall regardless of if the house was terraced or detached ( up to 5 bedrooms) .

Reaper you are a star.
Just spoken to Beryl at Scottish Power and I am having a free survey carried out in the new year. They call me Mr Pig!0 -
i had a leaflet from my local council (arun) offering the same deal i have a feeling its some kind of government policy to bring down co2 pollution etc, there are grants available to bring it down to free if on certain benefits as previously stated, i guess its worth doing at some point as i presume its one of the reasons our council tax has gone up so much the last few years
