Beware of e-on staywarm
although staywarn in scotland from e-on gives peace of mind in that the annual price is set for the over 60's it comes at a very costly price. The price for this year has increased by 40% against last years rates. How can such a company justify such inceases for pensioners when they announced a 9% reduction in costs end March.
Pensioners beware!!!!!!

Your not forced to sign up to the tariff, just move.
If it has risen 40% then it is still lower than most other tariff increases.
Just because someone is over 60 does'nt mean they are any poorer than anyone else, how about families with a few kids, youngsters with big mortgages.
I know the older you are the more you feel the cold, but all those over 60 who live in my street all drive nice cars, holiday a couple of times a year and have a good pension.
Plus I do not get a winter fuel payment, free insulation etc unlike the over 60s.
Energy prices have risen and we all have to pay, its quite simple really.0 -
It gives you peace of mind. It does not give you free energy.
If you are only receiving an increase now or soon then as it is a twelve month contract then you probably must have avoided the 55% increase most other customers faced last year. And there's the imminent 10% reduction. 0.9 x 1.55 = 1.395. So 40% seems fair enough.
Bearing in mind the colder-than-many-recent-winters we've just had (are still having) most StayWarm customers must have had a bargain these past few months.
And can you confirm it is the actual price that has gone up - it is not that you have just been bumped up in to a higher consumption band?0 -

I would imagine the way they justify it is that prices did go up by around 40% over the last 12 months. The fact that they announced a drop of 9% due in march is pretty much irrelevant if you are on the staywarm tariff or one of their fixed rate tariffs which wouldnt be affected by drops.
If you dont like the hike you could move, but you do risk finding that the prices elsewhere may be even higher for your usage than on the staywarm tariff.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!
