  • How much were you expecting to pay. I am looking for similar and haven't found anything for less than about £600 per week.

Thomson cruises are some of the cheapest. It is worth finding the cheapest internet price for one that is departing in a couple of weeks, then going to a Thomson travel agent and asking them to beat the price. It has worked for me.

The other advantage for budget cruising with Thomson is that they don't add on loads of 'gratuities' to your on board account. Many others do, which I think is a cheek, but Thomson include all this in the price you pay.

and don't forget spending money on top of that. Its easy to forget how much you are spending onboard ship when its all charged to your cabin ! We spent £500 between the two of us on Ocean Village during the weeks cruise, with all the extras like Spa treatments, drinks, casino etc etc

Med crusies also make a stop every day at a port, so there will be more spends required for trips ashore whether with a guided tour or under your own steam

The cheapest med cruise over the last few years have been Island cruises with a base price of £299 including flights in May/June.

There may be some this year but this is the last year they sail and they are no Thomsons so the discount agent may not be able to do them.

This is not All inclusive so drinks and spending money needed.

Next up are the special deals on MSC and Costa when available.

Thomons are OK but not easy to find the very good deals.

Ocean village is looking better(cheaper) this year but again the last season.

Next up are the US lines NCL,RCI,carnival, Princess + a few other.

Here you need to add $10-$12 per day tips and the drinks tend to be more expenive but they are much better than the others mentioned and include other extras like free room service.

For prices still one of the best places is TXT 227 here you can browse them on-line.

Under £600pp should be easy for the base price,
I am seeing (subject to getting these)
    RCI for £550,
OV £550 (£349 cruise only from palma)
    Island £499
    Celebrity century £499

It is certainly true that cruise companies are suffering in these economic times. I have read that some cruises are operating well under capacity. After posting last night I browsed some sites and there are certainly bargains about. Weekend travel supplements also seem to have some good offers at present.

We last cruised in November and the ship was probably about 80% full. Some are operating well below that, I have read.

We got our price for Royal Caribbean online, then called into a travel agent who gave us a price £200 cheaper than RC own website could, we ended up going to our own travel agent we normally use and they matched the other TA price. Shop around and do not take it that the companies own site no matter who it is are the cheapest.

On the main stream US lines expect 10% off the cruise line on-line price with any UK TA.

They do run specials through particular TAs and some TA take blocks that mean some TA prices can be even lower than the 10% discounts so you have to look around.

We did a Villa suite on NCL Jade 12nights and this was 40% cheaper than the cheapest elsewhere through one agent. (top stuff for <£900pp)

A good target price for cheap cruises is <£50pppn.

Always check out the prices in the US as well, these can be cheaper, but not as often now the rate has changed, and you have to DIY flights.

I was checking a UK price against a US for a suite on NCL Jade 5n US £650 UK >£800

There is an 8n villa(2bedroom/living room ) offer for £650pp on a 4 share May 21st Rotterdam to Southampton.(£2,876.00 inc tips 4share before TA discounts)

The deals are there if you look
