Where can i turn too?

really really wound up,

over christmas and new year partied really really hard, and seriously over spent, first 2 weeks in january ended up having to take time off work seriously ill, so i lost 2 weeks pay, and have had to survie this month on 2 weeks pay, so i've really not been able to pay anything, and now i've managed to build up £300 in bank charges which when i've phoned and explained my situation they are not prepared to lift, my c/c has gone over its limit with interest and a late payment fee, oh and a fee for a letter they have sent me to let me know, also the same with my store card although i've managed to pay that to bring it back into the green, there is also the car payment, insurance, money i owe my parents and friends. it seems everywhere i turn somebody is after money from me and i can't get a loan because before i split up with my g/f i let my credit get a bit out of hand, and now i can't get a loan to clear everything, and reduce my monthly outgoings because it seems that for the next 3/4 months my out goings are higher than my incomings.

i just feel so down

    Oh honey! Big hugs.

Are you better now and back at work? I assume you are self employed or a casual as you don't get sick pay?

If you feel up to it, post your SOA here, and all your debts, and we'll try and find the light at the end of the tunnel for you.

And don;t beat yourself up about overspending - we all do it and it is done. You can't unspend it so let's look forward and get you back on track.

    Hi

    Welcome to MSE!

Have you tried arranging a temporary overdraft with the bank explaining your circumstances?

Also could you possibly get cheaper car insurance? I changed on confused.com and managed to save quite a bit.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

    hi there

erm thats the cheapest insurance quote i got!!!
tried to get a temp overdraft and they wouldn't let me have one

this can't be right have you mistyped??
  • i can understand your position, i work for employer who only pays statuary sick pay (peanuts).

i guess the worst is that you see for next few months your outgoings are higher than incomings. you/we cant change anything thats already happened so its a case of minimising any damage and finding solution for you for next few months to at least keep your head above water.

suspect because you missed payment on credit card they will not offer higher limit to enable short term access to more funds. if this is the case i recommend you call them and request a holiday period for payments explaining that for next few months you just cannot afford. speak to your store card supplier too. they may say no but without asking we get nothing in this world of corporate robbery :)

i would also recommend a call to the car loan people to see if they can offer a short term holiday.

next is to try and maximise what income you have, its hard but if you can minimise non essentials and maybe even take up a partime job in a bar or something in evening this could help increase income. check around see if you have anything surplus that could make you a few quid on ebay !

getting out of these situations is never easy, and tightening the purse strings is even harder (specially when your down). but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and you know with some patience and hard work youll reach it :)

maybe ive not been of much help but just knowing there are people out there that care enough to offer advice shud help put a smile back on your face :D

keep smiling its what gets us through the hard times ;)

You need to change your tariff so that be cut down drastically. At a guess you're probably on something like 200mins anytime anynetwork?
  • Yup, I forgot mobile. i was gunna suggest going to payg sim card this way you can manage this cost more efficiently. i think tesco has cheapest for call costs at moment.

  • I think we need a bit more on your monthly income and outgoings...

What is your normal weekly/monthly wage.
DO you have a mortgage or rent?
How do you spend socialising. gym, entertainment etc? I think this will need to STOP to get you out of the current predicament
Why do need the car? I appreciate that there is little that can be done on the loan, but let's see if there is any alternative to the car (walking, bus passes etc)
WHy is your phone bill so high? WHy can you not use a land line - probably cheaper if phoning other land lines.

Once you have got over your short term immediate problems - you must cut back and get those loans to family and friends etc, credit cards and store cards repaid.

Stop spending on these cards. Cut them up! Do not be tempted to use again!

    Good luck
  • thanks everybody,

yeah my car insurance isn't a mistype!!

i'm 22 years old and have a 1999 1.6 VW Golf, I work in Trafford Park and to give you an idea of where i am my office overlooks Old Trafford Football ground, and i live 20 miles away. I start at 7am and there is no bus service between the 2 locations so giving up the car is siply out of the question

as for my mobile yes i am on a 200 mins anytime any network contract, and the credit card and store card have both been shredded!!!
