Canaries holiday for 1 person, leaving 7th March for less than £300, can it be done?

Wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm looking to book a holiday for just myself leaving on 7th March (or late on 6th March). Originally I was going with my dad but he can't get the time off work now, and we were quoted just over £500 for the two of us. Since I still want to go I've been looking for a hol for one but the prices are nearly the same as for two people:eek: !!

I know places have to add supplements but does anyone know of any travel companies that don't add supplements? I've googled but don't seem to be getting anywhere. Not to fussed where in the canaries I go (just want some sun!) and not bothered whether it's self catering etc (would be willing to pay a little more for half board obviously).

Where about are you flying from? Without checking properly, I would say at a guess, that you would be best getting flights and accomodation seperately so look where you can get the cheapest flight to, and go from there.
All the packages will be based on 2 people sharing so will cost you more.

If you can get to London Gatwick there is an Easyjet flight out 7th to tenerife returns 14th march costs £146. Leaves you £150 for accomodation.... (I will go and look, I really should get a life lol!)

I'm travelling from West Midlands so can go from Birmingham, East Midlands or Manchester at a push. If you book them separately is that when your not covered if the company goes bust though? I don't want to get stuck over there, I start my new job on the following Monday after I come back!

Hi, Travel Republic has hotels well within your budget, you would have to make sure you had insurance incase the airline failed, I read about it on here, someone else may be able to help more with that.
I think if you book with easy jet or ryanair you would be pretty safe though as I doubt they will go under, and not by march anyway!
