Wheel Clamped 1yr Ago,refund Req...

Just over1 yr ago I got clamped by a bunch of women???? who were working for a company called PARKING CONTROL MANAGEMENT ,I had to pay a fee of £120 for release. It was a horrendous experience as I had to phone a mate to bring me the money,It was on a shopping centre car park and I had left the site for a few minutes only and had used the shops there.
Anyway today I heard that the company had been working there without proper paper work and that they knew someone who had had their money refunded. I have emailed them today and had a reply asking me for my reg no and date of incident and they will look into it .Hopefully I might get a refund, but what I need to know is what do they need to operate on these sites ? do they need a license or permit , the person that told me did not know the exact details so this is all a shot in the dark .But should I get a refund I am going to make it public knowledge to spare other victims this ordeal and hopefully help to get other people their money refunded.

The person who clamps the vehicle must have an SIA licence (although the company does not need to have one), and presumably they must have a contract between them and the landowner in order to act as their agent, carrying out the clamping.

Yup - SIA registered & a proper contract.

I think their forms should now include the number but I don't know if that applied a year ago.

As for getting a refund, most of these firms are cowboys (or cowgirls) in every sense of the word, so the chances of getting a refund directly are probably slim. The most likely scenario is that you will have to gather enough evidence & take this to the small claims court.

And you will also need to include the landowner as a defendant too.
