Libya is very nice, great Roman remains, nice people, however it is "dry",no alcohol. The ex pats all make their own, flash is almost neat alcohol,be very careful with drinking as you never know how much it is cut.
It is a muslim country, dress conservatively and you will only get groped a bit dress as you would in European med and you will get seriosly groped or worse. It can be a bit of cultural shock to start with.
It is very hot in Summer and warm and pleasant during Winter months.
The traffic and driving is horrendous.

How about a nice compact hard back journal for her to write her experiences in. It is amazing how quickly you forget about specific's & this will help cement her memories forever.

Libya is part of the Arab world, and not at all like sub-Saharan Africa. Does she drink? If so, she might be glad of some alcohol to take with her.

Sun-screen might be a good idea.

I wouldnt recommend her taking alcohol into Libya !!!

I bought my step daughter a scarf that can be put in the freezer prior to wearing around her neck to keep her cool - she loves it! I think i got it from 'presentsformen.co.uk' - they have lots of really good ideas for people who travel.
the other thing I bought was a pink silk sleeping bag liner - which she loved too.

It might be nice to get her a journal as someone else has suggested but also something like a phot album so that she can take her pics with her for when she gets home sick.

You could always make her an "essentials pack". Include things like skin so soft, lip balms, etc.

Thanks guys, she left last month. I couldn't find anything that I felt wouldn't maybe take up her luggage allowance so I did them a little flight care package - a hand held fan, tin of tiger balm, mints, earplugs, hand sanitiser (but they already had that), I also made my friend date and nut 'sweets', she adores medjool dates http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/g...g?t=1237246371 , thought they would be good at keeping her blood sugar stable if she didn't have time to eat properly... I also made her friend my orange chocolate chip muffins which she loves... proper comfort food when you're feeling sleepy on a long flight.

Happy to report that they're having a great time but I miss her dearly!
