Golf Clubs

Does anybody know the cheapest way to get your golf clubs overseas I am flying with Cathy Pacific but they charge far to much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fly with an airline that doesnt charge, or pay the fee with Cathay - I would say they are your only options.

wow... i've taken golf clubs with about 10 airlines all free of charge. how much do they charge?

I have to assume that the Golf Clubs were within your baggage allowance?

If not, I'd be interested to hear the names of the airlines?

yes they were part of my allowance.
most of my long haul is to the US.
So i've used virgin, BA, continental, delta, American, northwest, Air NZ... er.. i might have exaggerated with the 10...

With the USA being based on the piece concept (2 x 23KG) it is of course easy to get ones bats within ones allowance, but if ones travel is not limited to the USA, then an allowance in the region of 20KG makes the task one whole lot tougher.

OK we need to know what your baggage allowance is, and that includes how much weight they allow if you are taking clubs as part of that allowance.
As an example, I travel with AA and they allow 2 bags 23KG each, but if you substitute one of those bags for clubs they are included in your "free allowance", and they allow you to put 32KG of weight in the golf bag!! So we use my soft large golf carrier, we get 2 sets in one bag, "we borrow a bag for the other set of clubs when we are out there) it only comes to about 18KG with 12 balls and 2 pairs of shoes, that leaves us 14Kg to stuff clothing in.

really? didn't know that...
you have to be careful with the american carriers... came back from cincinnati with the misses once. i had 1 case @ 35lb. she had 1 case @ 55 lb.. they charges my misses $25 as it was over the 50lb limit... even though mine was well under... and combined they were less than 100lb.
my case was absolutely stuffed otherwise would have swapped some stuff over.. and there were no bags to buy anywhere

Ryan air charged us £70 return for hubbies golf clubs recently. That was more than three times the cost of the return fare between the two of us ! Not complaining though, it was a great deal.

SATA airlines are taking them free of charge when we fly to the Azores next month. I guess you have to look around at the different airlines and compare.

The problem i have is my luggage weight is only 20kg an i am flying to Sydney from manchester via london my first flight is with BA then Cathy Pacific because i booked it with dial a flight online i have been given a different flight code for each flight but he same flight reference I have tried ringing then but to be honest they are absolutely useless and dont know what day it is.

Have also tried Fedex but they wanted £104 what a rip off !!!

Any ideas?

depends how many rounds you're playing.
you looked in to renting a set when you're out there each round / for the duration?
