Travelodge - excellent.

We've just returned from London, having stayed at the Farringdon Travelodge @ £26 a night; double room. The 63 bus from Kings cross underground/mainline stops right outside the door. Couldn't be more convenient.
The staff and service was excellent.
I see somebody on this forum has promoted the idea of 'stay @ a Travelodge for free' by making a complaint.
If the complaint isn't genuine, no doubt a staff member will needlessly be in trouble and may loose their job. Also Travelodge may decide to withdraw such excellent offers.
I defy anybody to honestly find a better hotel with double rooms available at £10 or £26 a night in central London.
If you can; please let us all know !!!!!
It makes me mad to think some people (forum members?)will misuse the genuine complaints system

Glad to hear you enjoyed your London holiday happy-saver, and good to get a bit of feedback about this Travelodge hotel. I had booked to stay in the Covent Garden one around New Year, but heard that it was absolutely awful, even for the £26 I paid. For reasons unforeseen I didn't actually go in the end. However I'll be going to London again at some point so will seek a room in the Faringdon Travelodge first if I can't get friends to put me up.
And yes, I agree, anyone who abuses complaint systems do more harm than good. It's nearly as bad as falsely claiming on insurance, or falsely claiming benefits - eventually the rest of us pay for their greed whether by higher prices or withdrawal of priveleges.0 -
Hope this helps. Workwise I stay in both Travelodge and Hilton type hotels all over the country and for value for money - even some of the upmarket hotels have plastic curtains - Travelodge wins hands down every time. The staff are neither in your face or up their own backsides, the rooms are clean (which is more than I've experienced in a £110 a nighter), and there are no fancy extras which are included in bill but you don't have any use for.
I take my own coffee/milk/sugar/weetabix/bowl for breakfast - far superior to the breakfast junk served in expensive hotels, and the receptionists can always recommend several places to eat dinner from the local chippy to a good restaurant.0 -
Can't fault Travelodge offering such excellent deals. What do people want for either £10 or £26 per night. As said above they are always clean, tidy and pleasant to stay in. Off to the lakes in a couple of weeks in another £10 room.
Thanks Travelodge.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
I stayed at Covent Garden new years day for £10, it was great! The rooms were fine, the bathroom a bit old, but for £10 I wasn't complaining. The only downer was that we visited the British museum after a full english and my son (who had said he didn't feel well - but I insisted he eat his free breakfast) threw up right in the middle of the mummy gallery!!0
