The 1500 miles for opening the card appear separately, as a voucher, not in your main account. And I'm fairly sure that they appear a little AFTER you have made the first payment. So I'm reasonably sure you are worrying unnecessarily.

Correct. The 1,500 miles appears as a voucher in your Airmiles account, the details of which (account number) will be sent to you in the post shortly. You can then go to airmiles.co.uk and use your account number to set-up an online account, which you can use to check your balance, shop online (and get points that way) and - eventually - to book your flights.

It's also true that the voucher appears about a month after your first bill.

If you want access to your Airmiles account straight away and haven't received your account number, give the nice Airmiles call centre a call and they'll be able to quote you it over the phone (once you've verified yourself, of course...)
