Taking Food Abroad !!

Hi everyone,
We are going out to Tenerife for a week's holiday in a self catering apartment. We won't be arriving until early evening, and I am wondering if I can take vac.packed steak, in my suitcase for our dinner the first night, as I believe we are out in the sticks, and there won't be anywhere to buy food for the first night.
We go tomorrow afternoon, so an early reply from anyone with thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Can everyone cross their fingers for us for good weather..normally the temperature there this time of year is 20-22 deg...isn't it just sods law, that the first time we go, its struggling to get up to 18:rolleyes:
I'll be back on line looking at all your posts at the end of next week, have a good week everyone.:A

    Hi Le Foot
Yes you can take that in your suitcase. Unlike the UK {if you are flying into the South airport} you do not have customs to greet you and search your cases, so although they {like most countries these days} do not like food stuffs to be brought into the Island you will be OK. We have done the same thing many times in the past with no problems at all
    Hope this helps

Thanks London 50...Thats a great help, I didn't want to get arrested at the airport. I wasn't even sure whether suitcases went through a scanner somewhere, like hand luggage does.

Cheers..I would say I'd have a drink for you...but it looks like its gonna be too expensive due to the poor £/€ ratio...but the thought will be there .:rotfl:

Le Foot, we are also going to Tenerife but not till May. When we arive the most important thing to buy is bottle drinking water.
The only food type thing we put in the case's are tea, coffee and sugar and prehaps some cereal bars.
    Have a great time....Julie
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
  • BBC world weather, looks like 20-21 degrees for the nxt 5 days in the south of the island? , are you going to the north, where it is cooler?? Just to add we regularly go in jan/feb and the temp is always 2-3 degrees less than it actually is on the web.
  • According to this thread you can take food onto the place but it seems you can't take meat or dairy products out of the UK according to here. Hope this helps and have a great holiday! :)

I'm sure you will have a great time. My family is just back from a half-term break in southern Spain which I'm sure is much cooler and boasting about having outdoor picnics every day!!
