Just a quickie. Having just ordered a wireless laptop I am about to order the above to connect upto the NTL cable modem.
Will this slow down my 1mb connection? (Sorry to sound thick!?!)
Also is it a good router to buy for £39.48 from ebuyer? Can anyone please advise, especially if they are using the same unit??? Range? Connections speed?
Have also read on netgear support forum that some have had problems with connection dropping...has anyone had this issue?

I have no experience of that router, but it should be fine for your use. Check out the customer reviews on ebuyer for others' experience: mainly good, some bad. I have a Netgear DG834G and it's been excellent.
The router's theoretical maximum wireless speed of 54Mbps (Megabits per second) is 54 times faster than your NTL 1Mb(ps) connection so it won't slow down the connection. The actual speed between your laptop and router will vary depending on signal quality and distance from the router.0 -
Thick question but is this router only suitable for cable? I've got NTL cable but may change in the near future to non-cable, so want a router that will be flexible! Is that possible?

I've just checked the Netgear website and this one should work with both Cable and ADSL (if that is what you switch to) since it does not include a modem built into it. This means that if you switch to non-cable, you will just need to change the modem and plug the router into that.0

only if BB gets an ADSL modem with an ethernet out. They are a bit thin on the ground, most adsl modems are usb only.. It would also mean that BB would have 2 boxes plugged in, instead of one..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Just seen your post. We bought the belin but are stuck as our broadband is connected via usb and the router only has ethernet slots. Weve found an ethernet cable but arent sure if it will work????0
