LLoyds - financial hardship. AAAARGGHHH!!!!

Along with everyone else, I put a claim in back in 2007 for charges from Lloyds. Due to a change of circumstances, I wrote to Lloyds expalining the hardship and could they send me any forms I may need to fill in. I got the standard letter, saying 4/8 weeks wait. (no form)
That was about 4 weeks ago. Today I got exactly the same letter with same time scale. Are LLoyds fobbing me off? How can I push this forward.

Hi
I am in the same boat i sent my letter claiming hardship case and got the same letter i got 6 months ago and to make things worse they are threatening court action for my going over drawn and just charged another £251 for returned payments and overdrawn. When i contacted my branch all i got was don't go overdrawn. I can't help it when they keep taking money off me like that. its just spiraling out of control
Sorry rant over i'll be watching this thread to see what we can do next.

Well I finally got through to them. Not good news for us I'm afraid. They are telling me that they have no obligation even under the hardship claim to refund the back charges. WHat they are obliged to do (bare mninimum) is help out with any future charges if they feel you classify as a hardship claim. This means making a reduced payment arrangement and helping to stop any further charges.
They are stalling for time, other banks just seem to be paying out in these circumstances but not Lloyds.
You do have to phone them and discuss this with customer support division and all I would suggest is that whilst you keep adding up any charges added, you try to get a reduced payment in the meantime.0 -
I am gobsmacked at just how ignorant they can be, though i dont bank with them i have heard some horror stories. If i were you i would either contact the OFT/FSA or go to the CAB.
At this point in time you need someone who can explain without being biased where you stand.
The fact that one of you is having to break a rentalagreement is just cause to take immediate action. Your landlord could penalise you for breaking that, i would seriously consider going elsewhere asap to see if you can push the bank via another route.0 -
hi,i am in same boat with lloyds had claim on hold since july 07 they agree i am in hardship but all they want to do is up my overdraft. This is not helping me in the long run just getting me into more debt. All i want is what is rightfully mine so i can pay off what i owe and never have to deal with this awful bank again.0

Exactly the same here - I changed from them to yorkshire bank and set up a payment plan to pay off my remaining overdraft and agreed (over the phone  ) an amount that I would pay in every month.
They agreed to cancel charges of £115 that were due to be taken off my account 2 months ago.
Guess what...they took the charges, which pushed me £105 over my overdraft limit and for the past 2 months have charged me £90 for being over my overdraft limit.
Theyve now sent me a letter demanding that I pay them back the £285 that I am over my limit by IMMEDIATELY and are denying all knowledge of an agreement set up by phone (my fault, should of got it in writing). They're now trying to take me to court under section 71 of the credit act.
At the moment i just feel like I'm past caring, it's so exhausting to have to think about all the time. I've sent them another letter explaining all of this and requested any further contact to be in writing.
I've also said that if they give me my bank charges back I'll happily just leave them in that account and pay off the overdraft. Waiting to hear from them again.
I too have applied for bank charges under hardship to no avail.0 -
Lulaloo
All calls are recorded and noted for obvious reasons. Tell the bank that you would like them to access the recordings made on that day. This is a total pain in the backside for them and usually they will roll over without too much protest.
I know because I had to ask for this when my mortgage was being moved and I knew that I would go overdrawn and a minion agreed to it, unfortunately the process took longer than anticipated due to them being slow to release my final statement. I had every penny of my charges ,which grew very steeply, returned within the day that I complained. Also escalate your complaint within the Branch and get names.
Hope that this helps.0 -
I have contact the FOS and they confirmed the above to me. No bank is legally obliged under the hardship claim to be refunded. Although some of the banks are offering refunds Lloyds is not one of them. They confirmed that by offering to just reduce my monthly repayments, they are acting responsibly!
What a joke! No wonder they are in the position they are in.0 -
mm.. things arnt looking great are they? im loosing site of the very dim light at the end of the tunnel!!! i will be getting hold of the oft/cab etc.. as breaking my agreement not only means i have to leave my lovely home but i will be sued for the remainder of the rent totally £7000.. i realy hope we all get some joy!! thanks so much for the advice, its nice to hear from people in the same boat. lucy.0
