Are they any good? Can I grow them in pots?? I'm looking to get some fruit trees in a couple of big, zinc planters I got from Homebase a while ago!I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum
Cos how can you be gloomy, when the sun shines out your bum?0 -
I am very happy with them. You can grow them in planters no problems at all. They are bare rooted. I have a couple in planters already from last year and they are very good. I used soil based compost as it is heavier than normal compost, they come base rooted and I have been told it is ok to plant them out now and have done so (I live in Yorkshire).0

That's fantastic, thank you! I'm off to the shops at lunchtime then! (I'm in the South East, so shouldnt be a problem.)I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm's never glum

Yeah, I popped in this morning at 9.30 and picked up a Red Haven Peach, a Fantasia Nectarine and a soft fruit selection which I think was Tayberry, Raspberry and Blackcurrant. My garden is really boggy so I was going to try both of the fruit trees in big pots too. Would it need to be a really big pot???Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 607 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Do you need 2 of each fruit to make it fruit? Only i remember us having this plum tree for years that never fruited and it suddenly fruiting and someone saying its probably because someone else nearby had a plum tree that year and the bee's helped out.0

There is a whole thread already going on Lidl fruit trees, including pollination, here

I picked up an apple one and a cherry one. good size for the price. half price than some other places."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

I would recommend them.
I bought a flowering cherry and an apple tree from Lidl 3 years ago and they are thriving. I planted them into the ground, but I would try them in tubs as they're quite slow growing.0 -
ooohh for all those buying the fruit trees from Aldi/Lidl if you need big pots for them then Instore and Poundstretcher are also doing the trees and giant 55cm and 60cm pots to put them in the 55cm ones look big enough to me and they are 2 for £7! the 60cm pot was £7.99 by itself......they are those heavy duty plastic pots dunno how i am gonna move it when its full of compost though!Every Penny's a prisoner :T0
