If its pulled apart would it not be better to replace it/get it replaced. Remember that its live if you taken the case apart and you should turn off the electricity before doing anything.

If its in the bathroom you are not "meant" to do it yourself as it comes under Part P , I believe.
  • thanks my kids pulled on it and it snapped right at the top my oh turned off elec and took off but it all fell on floor colis etc and dont know what goes where
  • When OH took it off did he note where the wires went so you could put up a new one?

  • no he didnt its not the wires its just the coils springs and plastic bits can u buy them as a set?
  • Just get a new one from Wilkinsons for about £2. Much less frustrating than trying to reconnect the springs and sprockets.

Oh and if you do plan on fitting yourself, make sure the mains is switched off before doing it and follow the wiring exactly as it was in the old unit. If in doubt get a sparky in, but tis an easy job if you are careful.

You might just be better off getting a new one, they are only a couple of quid at wilkinsons and you can fit your existing pull thing on the new one
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
  • thanks all will go wilkinson 2morro and get one what a nightmare lol thanks again
  • They also do chrome ones in some stores. Alternatively try Ebay if you want one. Easy fix and replace - if busted just replace HTH

£1.39 at Screwfix. And you get a nice clean piece of cord with it to replace the grubby one! ;)
