Extractor Hood

Hi
I have just had kitchen designer out and I told him I wanted a vented kitchen extractor but the window lintel is right where the hole would need to be cut. We cant put it further up into the ceiling because it would mean cutting into the joists.
I then suggested a 90 degree bend to bring it out on the opposite wall but the designer said that putting a bend in would decrease the efficiency so much that you might as well just have it fitted to use as a recirculating extractor. I thought this were no way as good but he has reassured me that will not be the case if I use it every time I cook and replace the filter regularly.
I just want to confirm this info with anyone in the know before i go ahead as I have had bad condensation in the house and want to ensure I am fitting the most effective extraction.
Thanks
K

we have a 90 degree bend in ours, it works just fine.
a recirculating one will not remove steam.0 -
would be NO problem - if it's a long run the you could put a second fan at the point where it exits the wall or get a beefyer hood with a more powerful fan.0

Thanks - It will only be just over a 2metre run. Basically it will go into the cavity and turn to run across the ceiling. Just means i have to have a new ceiling but I ould prefer that to a bad condensation problem.0

Use the flat square pipes and glue the joints!0 -
Hi,
We've got a recirculating Baumatic Chimney hood, and it works just fine. We've used it everyday for six months and not had to change the filter yet.0 -
