I went this morning to get my Income Support and DLA and the DLA was not there.

Without a word of warning and now after 4 calls to jobcentreplus and DLA I have been told that my DLA won't be available until March 17th. It's paid in arreas so they kept parroting and if I hear the pretend word, decombined again. :mad:

Now I don't know about you but I depend on that money weekly.

The prat I spoke to at DLA, Gareth, said that there is no way that he can help me, with an advance. There is no easing into this but cold turkey.

I am so :mad: .

I am emailing DLA.

So now I have to live on my IS which is not enough until the middle of March. What does help sort of is I go to the states in a week and a half.

This is not fair.

They will have to give you a crisis loan. They can't leave you like that! Phone the social fund up and you can apply for either a budgeting loan or crisis loan. I think you would probably be looking at a crisis loan. You have to show that it is an emergency and that the help is not available elsewhere and that it is the only way to stop serious risk to you and/or your families health or well being. They make the decision the same day and you should be able to go to your local job centre to pick up the giro cheque.

I can't believe that I haven't received any warning of this.

Now Income Support does have a system that they will advance some money until your IS is in place and then you can pay them back in small amounts.

Why doesn't DLA do this?

I have emailed them and wrote to the Daily Mail, my favorite paper to complain to.

If you get in touch with them just hope you don't get Gareth. He was almost yelling at me when I asked him if he could do anything for me, like arrange an advancement.

I think they get defensive because they know it is wrong. You also get those that think you are just some lowlife because you are on benefits and they can speak to you how they want.

I'm not on benefits so luckily this doesn't affect me. Just been turned down for DLA so if I do get through on appeal all this mess should be sorted by then.

*whew* Just called a friend and she can lend me enough until I start getting the damn DLA.

I wonder if I will ever get the letter telling me of this change? It was supposed to come in January.

I've written to Barbara Follett, my MP, just to let her know how people in her area are being treated. I know that she can't do anything but still felt that she should know.

Update:

On Monday I got an email from DLA saying that my money will be paid weekly instead of monthly.

I went to see if it was in and it was and now I wonder if it will be in every Monday.

I went in today to get my IS and there was also a DLA payment and my £60 Xmas bonus (I thought that I had alredy received that in January).

When I got home the postie had been and there was a letter from DLA saying that they would be putting in the lost payment.

So now I am whole again just not sure what day I will be getting my DLA. I'll check on Monday morning.

I wonder if they pick a name of the computer and think, we'll mess with their head now.
