External dvd drive fir netbook

Help!

I have an external dvd drive that i am trying to hook up to my netbook (medion e1210)

To read discs it works fine, but will only recognise blank dvds as cds, and will not burn.

When it hooks up, it always comes up as e drive on My Computer and always shows that a dvd drive is present in f.

Any ideas?

    Is it a DVD+R(W), DVD-R(W), or simply a DVD-ROM? If it's a DVD-ROM then it can't burn to DVD's at all.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.
  • it's two different drives that i have tried, both are recorders that i had previously used with an old imac. Burning dvds fine
