joint savings account?

Hi,
My OH and I have separate currrent accounts, but would like to open a joint savings account to save approx £100 each per month into. Is there any banks that we could do this with online as we both work long full time hours and dont have a day off together in the week until June! Saturdays might be a possibilty if any banks that you would recommend are open then?
Ideally we do not want to touch the money for a year-so it can pay for a fabulous holiday in 2010, but bearing in mind potentials for house disasters we MIGHT need to make withdrawals...
I bank with nationwide (but also have a halifax current account) and he's with HSBC
Any recommendations for good banks for savings, and also if we will be able to open a joint savings account online. We do notreally want a joint current account, does this matter?

Halifax Regular Saver 5% fixed for a year?
Shouldn't be a problem applying joint on line and you will be able to view from your existing Halifax online account if you want to. No withdrawals though.0 -
You can't have a joint Halifax Regular Saver, it can only be in single names. But you can apply either online or in a branch, and they have good internet banking.
I believe they also have more branches than any other bank open on a Saturday (most until 1pm, the larger ones until 4), which could be useful for you.
But as anselld said, the only way you can get the money before the year is up is to close the account. In that case, interest is paid up until the date of closure, but only at approx 1%.0 -
How about the HSBC regular saver-is that one any good? OH has hsbc account (although they didnt give him advance despite him paying in approx £1500-2000 per month-which he needs to chase up!) I know it wouldn't be joint0

My OH and I have a joint Nationwide a/c we use as a holiday/saving account but if you want to run online then any N'wide accounts must be in the same title i.e. if the Flex a/c is joint then any other a/c e-saver, credit card etc run online has to be joint as well.
Barclays are offering 6% still on their 'Monthly Saver' a/c but you can only put in £250/m max. Open to existing, or new current a/c customers, so we've taken out 2 single a/cs there as we have a joint current a/c with Barclays. (That's another sort of saving a/c for us - we have separate current a/cs elsewhere)0
