dying white'ish t shirts, help needed please

I have 3 t shirts that used be white only now they are rather a yukky white. Anyway i have tried bleaching, boiling etc. to no avail. So i thought i would ask your opinions on dying them each a different colour to hopefully give them a new lease of life. So how would i do this? I take it to do it in the washing machine would be the easiest and more than likely get the dye even but i have never done anything like this before. Would it matter that they are not a pure white any more?
Thanks in advance

Sometimes the seams are stitched with polyester thread which does not dye - in your case it would remain white. If you dye your t-shirts a dark colour the stitching would be very obvious.0

washing machine dyes (by dylon) are very expensive, around £5.Ive done all my jeans using their denim dye about a year ago and its great,i was so pleased with the results,it even covered up the faded knee part i had on the legs.Im not aware of any other mchine dyes on the market.0
