We did our first car boot sale yesterday and made just under £100.00. My FIL died recently so we were selling mostly household items of his and some of my daughter's toys, DVDs and books. There were a few key items that we held out for a good price on - a Barbie castle, Disney suitcase and bedspread - but let people haggle on the remaining items. We had a 10p and 50p box which people loved rummaging in and we took probably a third of the items back home with us. We're planning another sometime soon.

We only had one real whinger. My daughter's books had been selling at 50p each and most people were asking if they could have three for a £1. which we agreed to. One woman asked if she could buy three for a £1. but then when I agreed said she would rather pay 20p each for them. Told her that we'd been selling them all morning as 3 for 2 and I wasn't going to sell them any cheaper. She then grumbled that yesterday she only paid 20p each for some other books. Told her if she didn't like the terms to put the books down and leave them. She paid the £1.00 but then was still grumbling as she went away. So why ask if she could buy 3 for 2 in the first place?
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

When Weve done ours we always make somewhere i nthe region of 300 quid. I do sell things for silly money, after all I might think that old top is wrth a quid, but if the only person who has asked/ interested is offereing me 20p then its better to sell it than to cart it home.

I have got another cbs's worth and after holiday, we'll have a nother go. We have a rail ( argos 4.00 ) and a paper table. Most of the stuff we have is clothes and books and im tempted to go for 50p each or 3 for 1.20. the best stuff is saved for ebay - where I can put up with the niggling for the sake of a bit of extra cash.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I was amazed at the amount of stuff I sold on a carboot during my move to the states, I had literally junk, and it sold. buyers at carboot sales usually find what they are looking for on a spur of the moment, i.e. that old matching lampshade, the adapter for their old charger, even that remote control, that matches their old telly, there's generally always something you need on one, ergo always somethign you can sell on one. One mans litter is another mans gold in those places.
