received someone else's statements

hello all,

i have been sent someone else's egg credit card statements for by Moorcroft!!!

Problem is that I requested my statements and am praying that my statements havent been sent to someone else too.

I called moorcroft today and they reckon that someone will investigate, but no doubt they will try and fob me off that my statements have not been sent out!

I want to write to the person whose statements i have to get them on side and to let them know what the hell is going on - they may even have my statements???

Is this a data protection breach? what should i do about it?

  • It's a mistake. Even Data Protection laws and processes can't guarantee there won't be a mistake.

I'd let Moorcroft sort it out and just forget about it.

The best you would get is a few quid (£20?) as a goodwill payment for the "distress and inconvenience"

The Information Commissioner is not interested in one-off mistakes - they only get involved where there's either a repeated ignorance of the law or where Moorcroft's processes suggest that they are repeatedly ignorant AND not inclined to improve.

My suggestion is that you "move on" and put your energy into something else.

But hang around for the "this is outrageous" gang as they might persuade you to "pursue this" ;)
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
  • This is f***** outrageous.

What should you do about it? Shred the statements and ask for your own.

Complain to the Information Commissioners Office as it is a breach of the Data Protection Act 1998? :D
    That's what I would do ;)
