Can my electricity bill be correct?

I apologise if this is a daft question, but was the bill based on actual meter readings or estimates? Do the actual meter readings match the ones you're mum's been taking?
I only say because my first gas bill after moving into my one bed flat was hundreds of pounds! When I gave them a meter reading for when I moved in and current date, a new bill came for approx £20 per month.
Also at my partners flat he was overcharged for metered water for 3 years! It turns out he was paying next doors meter instead when they had a lot more people living there. So it's worth checking the meter reference on the bill matches the correct electricity meter.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
Could the readings for day & night be mixed up, I've seen other threads on here where this has happened to people with huge bills?Marsh Samphire0

Is she cooking on electricity? Is the water tank immersion heater? Is there an electric shower? All these add to the bill.
I am only asking, as when we used to live in a flat with electricity only, our hot water was from immersion heater, which used to be always on - the thermostat wouldn't switch it of!!! We moved in from a 3-bed Victorian terrace with not very tight windows and which used to be quite cold even with the heating almost 24 hours a day, but the bills for gas/electricity used to be less than in 1-bed flat!
Our electricity bills used to be high...
Mind you - we live in a 2 bed flat/coach house now, and the last quarterly bill for electricity was over £200, although we only use electricity here for shower, lights, TV, etc. My though - electric shower is draining it here!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
