Decadent Fool is right, I love NHS, I love the United Kingdom and the society that is so happy yet so bored... We are very lucky that we built all this early in our modern history so really, it is just matter of maintaining all this. Having one of the largest economy helps as well.
Anyway, horace, yes. Number one: Due to breaks this year getting paid and rise of minimum wage last year, my wages are eighteen percent better than when at starting wage when I started working last year. Number Two: I am already trying to spend a little as possible. So there is only one direction I can go, upward. :j
I define well off as to be able to live within the mean and be happy. Foods may be not nice but hey, at least I got nice books from library and internet to be happy to read.0 -

OH !! OH!! That sounds very, very mean. You are indeed all right jack

He was not saying 'I'm alright Jack'
As for myself in four months time? no I won't say what I think as you'll probably misinterpret that too.
At the moment, I suppose you could say I am really quite wealthy.0 -
Yes, I did, but you obviously you did not. Shame.

So you didn't comprehend the second time around either! See previous post for a little clarification.

Forget safety nets for savings and all that jazz, are we are totally screwed ?
If so well done Gordon `no more boom and bust`Brown !!
If you think you are well off ...... and if you think you will be well off in (say) 4 months time say yes below.
No we are not "totally screwed".
Yes I do feel "well off", although financial wealth is only a fraction of true wealth and well-being. The things that really matter are health and the people we love.
Yes I do expect to be even better off in 4 months.
I feel so lucky to have been born a citizen of the UK. We are all so much better off in so many ways than the vast majority of the world's population (and please don't misinterpret that as "I'm alright Jack"; it is the exact opposite, like decadentfool's posting above.)
JoeCrystal - great post. You brought a tear to my eye!
